Level of cooperation with OLA. > 2. Role of SIPPs in technology description. > 3. Relationship of ALF physical to ALF timing/pwr/func meetings. > > We will need to resolve this at the OPEF steering committee level in > February. > > Next OPEF technical committee meeting is 2/1 at LSI. Please review the following proposal for suitability. My idea is to proceed in the following way. 1) Get your initial feedback. 2) Discuss the proposal in the OPEF and ALF technical meeting Feb. 1 & 2. 3) Submit the proposal as technical recommendation from both ALF and OPEF workgroup to the OPEF steering committee and to the OVI board. --- Begin of proposal --- The ALF and OPEF technical workgroups jointly seek approval for the following proposal: A) The physical library description features developped for ALF shall be included in the ALF standard. B) The proposed ALF 2.0 release shall include the physical library description features. C) The proposed ALF 2.0 release is still on schedule for Q1 2000. D) The ALF/OPEF workgroup will continue and enhance its existing working relationship with the OLA workgroup. E) IEEE standardization will be initiated immediately after the ALF 2.0 release, in the process of which the copyright for ALF 2.0 will be transfered from OVI to IEEE. F) OLA will be positioned as a related standard to ALF in the PAR. The IEEE ALF workgroup will closely collaborate with the IEEE OLA workgroup. G) The physical design decription shall be developped as the PEF standard. H) The PEF workgroup will seek collaboration with Si2 in order to ensure datamodel compatibility with DEF and CHDstd. Explanation of terminology: "Library description" means representation of abstract models. "Design description" means representation of pertinent information to implement, construct, or manufacture the design. The proposal reflects a perceived interest from the industry and takes into account the state of maturity of the standardization efforts on library and design description, respectively. --- End of proposal --- Thanks in advance for your feedback. Best regards Wolfgang
