Next Meeting:

The next meeting will be a teleconference on 7/27
from 1-3 pm (PDT).

Details:
1. Review results of DAC activities

Everyone thought that the DAC demo was very successful.
Traffic at the booth was initially light but picked up
during the week, and we gave the demo to many key people.
We also distributed most of the 500 handouts.

Although enough people signed up to get the Birds of a Feather
scheduled, it was poorly attended. There seemed to be too
many BOFs competing for the same pool of people.

2. Planning for the second half of '99
a. Identify key unresolved issues
b. Define top level schedule for completing
DCDL draft spec by the end of the year

We came up with the following unresolved issues:
- operating conditions
- name mapping rules
- parasitics boundary conditions
- organization of taxonomy vs DCDL spec documents
- BNF versus man page style for syntax description
- use of positional parameters versus strict keyword/value
pairs
- file size issues in pure DCDL (bit ranges will help,
but will expanding embedded find commands and patterns
be too expensive?)
- formal design object types (port, pin, instance,
cell, net, library, design, etc.)
- tags

We talked about the rough schedule, which should target
- first draft complete for internal review by end of October
- final draft complete by end of November

Intermediate milestones include
- DCDL spec table of contents defined
- documentation tool chosen
- taxonomy/DCDL spec organization and relationship finalized
- sample constraint description finalized (arrival time)
- taxonomy complete
- syntax complete
- semantics complete

Thanks,
Mark
