This discussion is documented in a separate set of minutes. COOKBOOK MINUTES Michael Mirmak presented his version of an IBIS Cookbook outline, based on Stephen Peters' original. Specific sections were added for a variety of examples, plus the original outline was simplified to allow more detail to be expended on the specifics of the examples. Lynne Green suggested that more specific information on c_comp extraction should be added. Additionally, several participants requested that on-die termination be described earlier in the document. Arpad also mentioned that direct measurement of Vcc-relative curves could be described as part of the lab extraction section. External and internal packages and EBD formats could be described, but not in detail, as these will be covered in the ICM/PKG cookbook. Series elements and [Model Selectors] would also need to be added, plus an AMS example, though without significant AMS instruction. Tool approaches will be mentioned in abstract ways, but specific tools and tool algorithms will be omitted. ARs: John Angulo - provide overview of differential model extraction details Michael Mirmak - update IBIS cookbook outline based on participant comments ====================================================================== FUTURES MINUTES Ian Dodd reviewed a brief proposal to prohibit name reuse in [External Model] constructs. Some model makers are reusing port names, for example clamp supply names, in models with more complex I/O port construction. This could lead to confusion and parsing difficulties. Syed Huq summarized the issues with power delivery simulations for both core and buffer modeling. A series of off-line meetings with industry representatives agreed that BIRD42.3 should be re-activated and proposed for approval by the Open Forum. Bob Ross noted that the original BIRD was rejected due to lack of measurement specifics, difficulty in synchronization with V-t curve data capture, and other reasons. None of these are necessarily disqualifications at this time. John Angulo also observed that SSO might not be accurately predicted due to supply droop. Syed will redraft the BIRD text. Lynne Green will present on native IBIS data in external files at the next meeting. If draft BIRDs for I-t curves, port name reuse or digital states are available, these will also be reviewed. ARs: Syed Huq - draft BIRD updating BIRD42.3 for review by the Futures Committee Ian Dodd - draft BIRDs for Issues (1) and (3) as listed below for review by the Futures Committee ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For reference, the seven original BIRD proposals are listed below: 1) Define accepted digital states for input and output ports on IBIS 4.1 AMS models 2) Provide explicit links between ICM and IBIS 3) Expand [Circuit Call] to accept native IBIS [Model] and [External Model] references 4) Define series links between pins, pads and/or nodes under the multi-lingual extensions 5) Create user-definable buffer delay and input threshold measurements 6) Permit re-use of port names under [External Model] 7) Permit native IBIS data to be linked through external file names, similar to the multi-lingual extensions Attendees were assigned to complete formal proposals or definitions for the above, as follows: 1) Ian Dodd 2) Michael Mirmak 3) John Angulo 4) Ian Dodd & Bob Ross 5) Lance Wang, Ian Dodd and Arpad Muranyi 6) Arpad Muranyi 7) Lynne Green The formal statements should include a problem statement and a general outline of the solution.
