====================================================================== IBIS FUTURES/COOKBOOK SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Date: June 3, 2004 Attendees: Cisco - Syed Huq Green Streak Programs - Lynne Green Intel Corp. - Michael Mirmak, Arpad Muranyi Mentor Graphics - John Angulo Teraspeed Consulting - Bob Ross ====================================================================== Next Meeting: Thursday, June 17 1 PM - 3 PM US Pacific Time Telephone Bridge Passcode 916-356-2663 1 384-1425 Agenda: 1 - 1:10 PM Opens 1:10 - 2 PM Cookbook Discussion - Review of ICM & IBIS Cookbook Outline Changes 2 - 3 PM Futures Discussion - Digital states BIRD review (Dodd, time permitting) - Port name BIRD review (Dodd, time permitting) ====================================================================== COOKBOOK MINUTES Michael reviewed his updated ICM and IBIS cookbook outlines. Several participants suggested that the IBIS cookbook include the relevant sections of the original specification on data derivation in Cookbook chapter 3. Additionally, threshold treatments and assumptions commonly made by tools should be included for Cookbook chapter 4.4. A new section explicitly on Terminators should be made part of the examples in section 5. Finally, the differential modeling examples should be part of a separate chaper, including pre-modeling steps, I/V table treatments and even c_comp adjustment recommendations. AMS examples should also be part of their own separate chapter. Bob and Lynne volunteered to provide specific data set examples. For the ICM cookbook, participants demanded that explicit mention should be made of EBD and PKG formats, with explicit examples and data derivations recommendations of each. Bob Ross suggested a three-part document be designed, so that each could be reviewed in detail. Further, a separate chapter should be included specifically on swathing. Connector manufacturers could be approached regarding donation of examples. ARs: John Angulo - provide overview of differential model extraction details -- WIP Michael Mirmak - update the ICM outline with comments from the participants -- DONE Bob Ross - provide PECL/ECL IBIS example for cookbook Lynne Green - provide bad/fake model for cookbook -- DONE ====================================================================== FUTURES MINUTES Lynne Green provided an overview of her proposal to allow external IBIS files/[Model]s to be referenced under the multi-lingual extensions of IBIS 4.1. Arpad raised the question of voltage references and power connections between the models. Additionally, ports, though not explicitly connected, may be incorrectly assumed by tools. The proposal was withdrawn from consideration. ARs: Syed Huq - draft BIRD updating BIRD42.3 for review by the Futures Committee -- WIP Ian Dodd - draft BIRDs for Issues (1) and (3) as listed below for review by the Futures Committee -- WIP ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For reference, the seven original BIRD proposals are listed below: 1) Define accepted digital states for input and output ports on IBIS 4.1 AMS models 2) Provide explicit links between ICM and IBIS 3) Expand [Circuit Call] to accept native IBIS [Model] and [External Model] references 4) Define series links between pins, pads and/or nodes under the multi-lingual extensions 5) Create user-definable buffer delay and input threshold measurements 6) Permit re-use of port names under [External Model] 7) Permit native IBIS data to be linked through external file names, similar to the multi-lingual extensions WITHDRAWN Attendees were assigned to complete formal proposals or definitions for the above, as follows: 1) Ian Dodd 2) Michael Mirmak 3) John Angulo 4) Ian Dodd & Bob Ross 5) Lance Wang, Ian Dodd and Arpad Muranyi 6) Arpad Muranyi 7) Lynne Green The formal statements should include a problem statement and a general outline of the solution.
