Hi all, In the Procedures and Policies document (in the second paragraph of section 6.1) it is stated that "Nominees shall be eligible to hold the office for which they are elected" and "A member shall be nominated for no more than one office." I think these requirements are in need of some clarification. It seems to me that it is not reasonable to interpret this as restricting the actions of nominators, since, for example, how does one know whether someone is already nominated to another office by someone else. Instead I think that after nomination by the nominators, it should be required that potential nominees accept or reject those nominations respecting the restrictions in question. Therefore I suggest we substitute the second paragraph of section 6.1 in the P&P: > The members shall nominate to the Returning Officer one or more members > for each office to be filled at the election. Nominees shall be eligible > to hold the office for which they are elected. A member shall be > nominated for no more than one office. The response period for > nominations shall be at least 14 calendar days. If no nomination is > received for an office, a temporary appointment shall be made in > accordance with 6.2. with the following two paragraps: # The members shall nominate to the Returning Officer one or more members # for each office to be filled at the election. The response period for # nominations shall be at least 14 calendar days. If no nomination is # received for an office, a temporary appointment shall be made in # accordance with 6.2. # # Nominees shall be required to accept or reject nominations. A nominee # may neither accept nomination for more than one office nor for an office # for which he is not eligible.
