Gentlmen, Below are the minutes that John took at the meeting last week. Thanks to him for a great job! Please start working on your action items ASAP. We have a lot to do before the meeting. Please dont leave it until the last minute. ESPECIALLY THE FIRST THREE ITEMS. Finally, I will be working on the agenda for the next meeting. If you have IRs that need to be discussed then please let me know. I will endeavor to send the agenda out 2 weeks ahead of the meeting so that people have a change to read up on things. This means I only have a week or two to put it together. Send in your suggestions. Clive ==================================================== Minutes of ISAC Meeting Synopsys (Mountain View, Calif.) February 11 & 12th Minutes by John Willis (IBM Rochester) [willis@vnet.ibm.com] Minutes reviewed by Clive Charlwood (Synopsys) [crc@synopsys.com] Attending: Victor Berman (Cadence) Andy Tsay (Fintronic) Clive Charwood (Synopsys) Oz Levia (Synopsys) John Willis (IBM Rochester) Dan Barclay (Compass-DA) Bill Paulson (Vantage) Chuck Swart (Mentor) Paul Menchini (Menchini Consulting) Alex Zamfirescu (Intergraph) ************************************************************************** * ACTION ITEMS: * TO BE COMPLETED ASAP (or sooner :-): * * - Paul will provide guidelines for filling out and maintaining an IR. * - Victor will send out travel info to Chelmsford. * - Oz and Alex will set up the IR database * * TO BE COMPLETED BY THE NEXT MEETING (and sent out on the reflector for * review): * - Migrate and update the IRs to the 93 database. * ************************************************************************** 1. IR Database Status (Alex and Oz) Alex and Oz agreed to make the IR database available online, via (ISAC) UNIX group protection, on vhdl.org. IRs will be maintained via RCS. 2. LRM Status (Paul) LRM will be sent to the printer March 1st. Printing should take a few weeks. LRM is already listed in the catalog. Three other projects are pending: the annotated LRM, a French translation and a CDROM version. 3. Future LRM Format (Paul) There was a discussion of what format to migrate the LRM into from the current Word format. Proposals included FrameMaker and SGML. 4. Issue Catagories There was a discussion of which distinct fields should be maintained. Paul noted that field exist on the IR template: (insert) The author of the issue initially picks the classification. The ISAC may over-ride the initial classification. There was a discussion of various priority schema. Paul suggested a new field to describe which group should evaluate the proposed action. There was a proposal to separate enhancements from bugs (Clive and Dan). Dan's motion passed that the ISAC issues be marked to differentiate enhancements from bugs. Paul motioned that the database be in ASCII, that it be a single database (with distinguishing fields), that a closed issue not be deleted (it may be superseded). Motion passed. Chuck was concerned about accountability. He was concerned about hundreds of IR which could or will not be moved forward. What do we do with these? Clive motioned that IRs be left in place. The IR be annotated as fixed but contains a suggestion for future language revision. The motion passed. Paul proposed an amendment: 1076-93 disposition field with values: 1. unknown (initial state) 2. closed 3. non-ISAC issue with work outstanding 4. further ISAC issues outstanding & list of supersed!ing IR(s) This is in addition to the (existing) current status field(s). Clive elevated this to a restatement of his motion and Oz seconded. Motion passed. Paul will provide guidelines for filling out and maintaining an IR issue. 5.
