Minutes of ISAC meeting held via telecom on 15 July 2004. Present: Peter Ashenden, Jim Lewis, Deepak Pant, Chuck Swart, Ajay Varikat TOPIC: Web based database for ISAC issues: It was agreed that common database for VASG issues might be desirable. It was also agreed that all IRs should be kept in the database, not just new ones. ACTION: Chuck will compose requirements for an ideal work flow for ISAC issues. ACTION: Chuck will communicate with VASG about using the database for more than ISAC issues. ACTION: Peter will try to find other possible work flow tools in addition to Mantis and Bugzilla. TOPIC: IR2027 When loop index is static, drivers are created for each element of array. This has been forwarded to the M&P group. TOPIC: IR2028 Clarify Simulation Cycle The submission was edited to improve clarity. No significant action until VHPI input is received. TOPIC: IR 2029 Non-relevant words and paragraph. A new IR, 2028, has been issued as a repository for low-level semantic issues ACTION: Ajay will write up the analysis of the IR. TOPIC: IR 2030 What signature does a method have? Peter's analysis was accepted. ACTION: Peter to make minor revisions, then Chuck to submit for VASG approval. TOPIC: IR 2031 "mod" function needed for TIME It was decided that there should be mod and rem functions for all physical types. It was also agreed that both arguments to the operator should be of the physical type. ACTION: Deepak will write this up. TOPIC: IR 2032 Function "now" is not pure Ajay's analysis was accepted with minor revisions. It was agreed that the VHDL2002 status shall be that treating now as pure is deprecated, and that for future versions of the LRM NOW will be declared to be impure. ACTION: Ajay to write up small revisions. TOPIC: IR 2033 Incremental operator and auto subtype boundery(sic) wrap Chuck forwarded this to the M&P group. TOPIC: Peter Ashenden paper on Generics on Packages and Subprograms. The issue of the inability to use predefined operators beyond = and /= was raised. Peter pointed out that additional operators can be supplied and also that this is just the first step toward type generics. ACTION: Peter to supply an example such as matrix multiplication. TOPIC: FT22 Composite expressions being locally static. There was general agreement that its not intuitive that an object can be globally static, yet its subtype can be non-static. ACTION: Chuck to attempt to enumerate the ramifications of the proposed change on the LRM. TOPIC IR 2034 Introduce history attribute on signals to auto infer registers It was determined that this is not an ISAC issue. ACTION: Chuck to forward to M&P TOPIC IR 2035 new function "stages" automates pipelining It was determined that this is not an ISAC issue. ACTION: Chuck to forward to M&P TOPIC IR 2036 protected_type_declarative_item includes subprogram_specification The suggested resolution is accepted. ACTION: Chuck to write up. TOPIC IR 2037 Typo wrt now in the index The suggestion resolution is accepted. ACTION: Chuck to write up. ACTION: Chuck to issue new IR for typos. (IR 2039.) ACTION: Chuck to produce and maintain table of active IRs. NEXT MEETING: 29 July 2004
