"Bind only creates an instance, it does not create a nested module.
Clause 18.15 describes bind as creating a module, interface
or program instance and makes no mention of nesting modules.

"It is correct that you cannot be explicitly specify the data
type of the port identifier in such cases.  One can achieve
the same goal by declaring a port with a parameterized
data type and assigning an expression to the port.  Using
a parameterized data type for the port will enable one
to create a unique port type per instance."
