We will be under the rules of the previous standard until the details of 1800-2012 have been worked out. Matt to clarify with 1800 WG if/when rules will change. + Top-25 Issues to Address Gord would like to bin Common Errata Gord would like to prioritize macro clarification over enhancements as the lack of clarity is causing divergence in implementation Gord: Are AOP or multiple inheritence or enumerate types to be addressed by BC or EC? Gord: Are Packages in BC or EC? Tom: Packages are for BC. Class-related items for EC. Dave: Should bounce back-and-forth and consider forming task force for converging if needed. Dave: Packages should start in BC. Gord: enums should start in BC Matt: BC may need to budget to address any EC overlap Gord: Class enhancements are substantial Gord: Variable part-selects are obviously desirable for user concerned about proper definition. Major change to Verilog. Changes to type system need considerable scrubbing Dave: What about another committee for longer-term issues? Identify issues that don't fit into current scope but deserve strategic direction/effort. Gord & Shalom: If VCD is to be addressed, should be done by BC. Gord: VCD way down on his priority list. Gord: where is right place to review interfaces. Mark: ports: BC. Interfaces in libraries. Gord: happy to keep interfaces in BC and should settle issue with EC. Dave: helps to know if features can be limited to synthesizability. Gord: always_comb not always consistent with synthesis and should try to ensure consistency. Daniel: Inconsistency of implementations are real. Budget time/ effort to drive more compatible implementations. Can a suite of tests be made available to improve the situation? Gord: the IEEE doesn't have a golden reference for a simulator and the size of the standard will yield inconsistent implementations. Effort to produce a machine-verifiable spec out of scope for IEEE. Believes a better specification is most effective way to address it. Gord: Macros causing considerable effort due to incompatible implementations Themes to discuss: Macros, packages, Data types, future work, resolution of hierarchical names (crosses into EC), expression & system tasks/functions, X-optimism/pessimism, declarations implicit/port/etc., interfaces. Tasks/Functions, consitency with synthesis, bind, allocate effort for misc Mantis clean-up, inconsistencies/incompatibilties AI: Matt create Google Docs account and post spreadsheet. By April 26th, no new issues will be accepted in list of requested items. Plan to review each participants input on overall top-25 items and begin collation process. Don can help with Google Docs. AI: Matt send email sv-bc stating April 26th deadline for feature requests. This is a final window for a few more submissions. + Issue Resolution The committees are authorized to resolve issues. If time permits we will review items starting with the following identified by Shalom: 154: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=154 931: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=931 968: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=968 991: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=991 1029: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=1029 1162: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=1162 1223: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=1223 2525: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=2525 2533: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=2533 2574: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=2574 2734: http://www.eda.org/svdb/view.php?id=2734 Action Items 04/12/10 Matt create Google Docs account and post spreadsheet. 04/12/10 Matt send email sv-bc stating April 26th deadline for feature requests.
