Approval of Agenda ------------------------------------------------------ Additions/modifications to the agenda by members. Move: Jonathan to approve the agenda Second: Francoise Abstain: Opposed: Unanimoulsy approved. 1. Review IEEE patent policy ------------------------------------------------------ http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.ppt The chair brought everyone's attention to the patent policy. Move: Steven to consider it has been read Second: Tom Abstain: Opposed: Unanimoulsy approved 2. Approval of previous meeting minutes: --------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.eda.org/sv-ec/Minutes/SV-EC_Meeting_July_18_2011_Minutes.txt http://www.eda.org/sv-ec/Minutes/SV-EC_Meeting_August_1_2011_Minutes.txt Move: Gord to july 18th and august 1st. Second: Jonathan Abstain: Alex, Neil K., Bran [aug 1st] Tom [July 18] Opposed: Unanimoulsy approved http://www.eda.org/sv-ec/Minutes/SV-EC_Meeting_August_15_2011_Minutes.txt Will review and approve during next meeting 3. Updates from P1800 WG --------------------------------------------------------------- p1800WG August 11 2011 meeting updates. No major updates. 4. Continue Review and discussion of top 25 issues and categories: ------------------------------------------------------ Review of the top 25 [+10+3]; 9 have been approved. 2506 Coverage Scott - has made updates to address the Champions feedback. (version 9) Jonathan - fine with those. Move: Scott to reapprove version 9 of the documetn/proposal. Proposal for Mantis 2506_v9.pdf Second: Jonathan Abstain: Opposed: Unanimoulsy approved 1356 Interface Classes [Multiple inheritance] [Tom, Brandon] 1356_Interface_Classes_rev11.pdf Brandon - He explained the set of changes that were made recently. Gord - typedef class blue --> typedef blue (don't need class) [6.18] Steve - typedef class C - if find C later, it must be a class typedef classname // for an interface class, works today typedef interface class classname <--- Mehdi likes this form typedef class classname // can't use this one // for an intterface class // since it is not a class Steven - typedef class classname - allows for more specificity and checks - would be consistent to allow similar syntax for interface classes Brandon - 8.25.4, page 6, comment #16 Brandon - Steven's input - most of it was addressed. - number 10. wasn't done, not sure how to address it. Gord - against overusing the word inheritance in any situation other than an "extends". Mehdi - number 10. in Steven's list is probably the most important one. - we will need to have the proposal updated again, based on all of the feedback. Gord - disagrees with #27 in Francoise's list Brandon - there are no data members in an interface class. Stu - straight quotes should be used in the code examples. The "smart quotes" aren't correct. Francoise - her comment #25 needs to be discussed Do we mean "shall be a constant expression" instead of "shall be constant" Gord, Steven - both agreed with this change 2987 Soft Constraints [Tom] Arturo - uploaded a version that's more consistent with the rest of the LRM - added a new section on discarding soft constraints Ray - only soft dist extends Jonathan - had a question about soft constraints versus default constraints Arturo - the proposal cleans up existing limitations of constraints Gord - are there any issues of circular references? If prune in different places the results could vary. Gord - if included multiple times the priority must be associated with the highest priority item. Ray - usage of "last" - declared last is used today. Arturo - the order in which classes are declared is not relevant. Jonathan - "If the soft constraints do not exhibit any contradictions then the result is the same as if all constraints were declared hard." - is this always correct? Dhiraj - you are right, we need to clarify this point. Dhiraj - we can get rid of the ':' if we make soft a keyword. Arturo - Right now 'soft' is not a keyword Dave - would like to discuss the use of soft as a keyword at some point. Dhiraj - 'soft' is a common term used in the area of constraints. Arturo - there is a lot of literature on soft constraints. Mehdi - we need to address the feedback in Ray's email. Arturo - there is no "unwinding" Mehdi - reset behavior is not "soft" Arturo - once a constraint has been discarded, it can't be brought back in Ray - wants to ensure the description is clear. Jonathan - would like to see an example of implication and if with a "soft" body. Stu - had a concern about soft being used as a label like it is in the proposal (soft:). labels are allowed in constraints today. 5.
