Hi,
I am happy to let you know that the initial P1666 ballot has passed unanimously. There were a number of comments that were received, including several from OSCI, which will have to be addressed. After that is done, there will be a "Recirculation Ballot" during which all voters will be given the opportunity to change their votes based on the changes made to the LRM. Assuming that recirculation vote is successful, then the standard will go to higher IEEE committees, e.g., the Review Committee (RevCom), for final approval.
In all, things are looking good for a 1666-2011 standard in the "Summer 2011" timeframe. The exact timing is somewhat imprecise at this point, since we are not sure how long it will take to turn around the LRM to address the received comments, and we are not sure when, for example, we will get on RevCom's agenda.
Thanks for everyone's help on this. Substantial work was done by a lot of people to get us to where we are at the moment.
I apologize to anyone who receives this message several times-there is some inevitable overlap of email reflectors.
Stan
