V-AMS Compact Modeling Extensions subcommittee Minutes of Feb. 24, 2004 Attendees: Geoffrey Coram, Analog Devices Ilya Yusim, Cadence Jim Barby, U Waterloo Al Davis, Kettering U 1) Approval of previous minutes (Feb 10) 2) Limiting Jim asked whether the main AMS committee has an opinion on the proposal last time to add $fetlim and $pnjlim (and maybe $templim). I will check with Sri. Before we settle on this proposal, however, we need to make sure that it actually accomplishes what we want. I have not yet started to work with the CircuitSim93 examples, but I have downloaded the Silvaco models from http://www.silvaco.com/downloads/verilogADownloads.html so that I only need MOS level2. Jim will look into the CircuitSim93 examples to see which ones needed help in convergence (dynamic ramping of some voltage sources); I want to test pure DC Newton. Al noted that he thinks the LRM should not have "fetlim" or "pnjlim" because they reference specific devices. However, fetlim covers so many regions with different nonlinearities (subthreshold=exponential, linear, saturation=quadratic in Vg) that it would be hard to pick a meaningful yet generic name. 3) Compact Model Council The next CMC meeting is in Boston, and I (Geoffrey) am to give a presentation on Verilog-A for compact modeling. Note that the CMC is March 12, following Nanotech 2004 (March 7-11). 4) Next meeting If I have anything to report on limiting, then we may have a meeting on March 9. Otherwise, we will talk next on March 23.
