Hi Martin,
I have the following two queries on this proposal:
1. For the degree character it says it can be 1,2 or 3. It was suggested in the LRM meeting, if I remember correctly that we will create a separate section under "control string" to explain what this degree characters mean. You have a few examples are your examples use either 1, 3 but not degree 2 which seems to be correct to me - either use linear or cubic for the interpolation technique. So I am thinking the proposal should either say that 2 should not be used or what 2 means. I still think addressing the interpolation method using degree character in a separate section will be useful.
2. The other thing that I mentioned the last time we discussed was the usage of "S" -> Spline for the extrapolation technique. I think this would be unstable (and hence the original proposal from Antrim didn't have it - and explicitly mentioned that doing extrapolation with cubic spline will not be allowed) and the suggestion was the restrict it. The problem with using spline for extrapolation is that it really depends on how far the point is from the last point that's specified in the table and you can get really bad extrapolated values.
Regards,
Sri
PS: I will search for the minutes of the meeting and forward it across, because I don't remember whether there were other suggestions from that meeting.
