The IEEE Invitation to join the Ballot Group for the IEEE 1076.4 VITAL
Standard closes this Friday, November 12, 1999. If you have received an
invitation from the IEEE to ballot and would like to do so, please ensure
you mail your invitation today to them.
Or, if you would like me to forward your name to them, please send me email
and I will add your name to a list of others that I will forward to the
IEEE.

For those of you who have not recently participated in an IEEE ballot,
effective June 1, 1998, you must be an active member of the IEEE Standards
Association (IEEE-SA) in order to participate as a voter in any new ballots.
If you are a member of the IEEE DASC, this fee is paid for you.
If you have not joined the IEEE-SA (you do NOT need to be an IEEE member to
join the IEEE-SA) I encourage you to do so. Information about the IEEE
Standards Association and an application for membership may be found on the
IEEE web site at http://standards.ieee.org/sa/index.html. (If you are an
IEEE member and NOT a DASC member, the fee is $10. If you are NOT an IEEE
member and only want to join the IEEE-SA, the fee is $125.)
The IEEE would also be pleased to mail you a Standards Association
membership application. Just contact them at the email/telephone/fax
numbers listed above.
If you choose not to join the IEEE-SA, you are still invited to participate
in this ballot as an observer. DASC bylaws require your comments to be
considered with equal weight as those of official balloters. If you are an
IEEE member and want to be an observer the fee is $100 (Yes, it makes more
sense to pay $10 and join the SA and be an official balloter rather than an
observer in this case.) If you are not an IEEE member, the observer fee is
$200.
