 SAN JOSE, Calif., April 3, 1997 -- Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX), the world leader in CMOS programmable logic devices, today announced the company shipped its 35,000th software design system during the first quarter of 1997.

Xilinx has shipped more software design systems, or "design seats," than any other programmable logic vendor. One year ago in April of 1996, Xilinx surpassed the 30,000th design seat milestone. The company said it has had record design seat shipments for the last three quarters. Sales have been fueled by the wide adoption of the new Xilinx Foundation Series software. This easy-to-use, integrated software package is targeted at both CPLD and FPGA designs. More than 65 percent of all Foundation systems include VHDL, the industry-standard hardware description language.
