While the XACT 5 software will work with a pre-XACT 5 license file, it is still
necessary to be using the XACT 5 versions of the Highland license manager
software. XACT 5 uses version 2.4 of the Highland software, while previous
versions of Xilinx software used version 2.21. You must shut down the old
license server and restart using the new one before running XACT 5 software.
In addition, you must be sure that you are running the latest version of
the XXACTD daemon. This may require killing the XXACTD process on the license
server machine. The correct version should be in the XACT 5 $XACT/bin/<platform>

directory, and will be used automatically by xlmasu if $XACT is set correctly.
If this is not done, you will get messages similar to the following one
issued by PPR 5.0 or other xilinx programs:

 PPR: Fatal Error 1053:
 ---------------------------------------------------
 License checkout for feature "PPR-SUN4" failed
 because invalid data was returned from the license server . Please contact
 your system administrator for help.
 ---------------------------------------------------
 Execution cannot continue until this error is fixed
 ppr was terminated with a Fatal Error status
