Workstation licensing: xlmasu gives 'no SERVER line' error, but line exists
Record #503
Problem Title:
Workstation licensing: xlmasu gives 'no SERVER line' error, but line
exists
Problem Description:
Solution 1:
PROGRAM: XLMASU
VERSION: any
PLATFROM: Any workstation
SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Full disk causes 'no SERVER line' error message
LONG DESCRIPTION:
PROBLEM:
The license manager auto-startup program reports that there is no SERVER
line in the license file. The SERVER line was indeed present in
$XACT/license/license.dat, but $XACT/license/<server>-license.dat was 0 bytes
( <server> is the name of the server )
CAUSE:
When the automatic startup program runs, it creates a second file, which
is then read by the license manager. If the disk is full, this second
file will be empty, and thus the license manager will not 'see' the SERVER
line despite its existence in the original file.
Work around:
use $XACT/bin/hppa/lmgrd -b -c $XACT/license/license.dat to invoke
the license manager directly, or clear out some space on the disk.
