WIR2XNF 5.0: About 'Unexpected token design_may_contain_rippers_recompilation..'

Record #505

Product Family: Software

Product Line: ViewLogic

Problem Title:
WIR2XNF 5.0: About 'Unexpected token
design_may_contain_rippers_recompilation..'

Problem Description:
Version 4.09 Viewbase may cause errors with WIR2XNF 5.0

ERROR MESSAGE:

Error - Unexpected token design_may_contain_rippers__recompilation
_and_relinking_with_ripper_version_of_viewbase_required in <design>.1

Cause:
This problem is caused by the line shown in the error message
("design_may...") appearing in the wir file. This normally occurs because
the Xilinx schematic libraries were created with the 4.09 version Viewbase.
**Yet Wir2xnf will complete with 0 Errors and 0 Warnings!** In general, the
design should run completely through XMAKE, and produce an LCA file.
XSimmake, however, will fail, as mentioned above.
This is because the wir file contains the same line, starting with the word "des
ign". Looking in the wir file we can see this:

| Wirelist created using version 5.2.
V 5.2
DESIGN_MAY_CONTAIN_RIPPERS__RECOMPILATION_AND_RELINKING_WITH_\
RIPPER_VERSION_OF_VIEWBASE_REQUIRED
K 110914167400 <design name>

Solution 1:

Pipe out (Place a vertical bar at the beginning of the line) the line that
reads "RIPPERS_ON" in your viewdraw.ini file. Then remove the bus rippers
from your schematic. Make sure that you use only the Xilinx builtin in your
library	search path, then run check -p <design> to rewrite the wir files.
The wir files are now valid for use in XSIMMAKE.
