Design Manager 6.0.1: Translate fails to creat a Version/Revision

Record #727

Product Family: Software

Product Line: FPGA Core

Problem Title:
Design Manager 6.0.1: Translate fails to creat a Version/Revision

Problem Description:
While attempting to translate a design, the translate progress window
closes after merging the input design files. However, the usual popup
dialog which indicates that the translate process completed does not
appear. The Project View shows a project design folder, but it does
not contain a design version or revision.

CAUSE:
There are two possible causes.	The first is that the Work Directory
specified is not writeable.

The second is DOS has a 63 character limit for a directory path,
including the backslashes (\).	If a design directory is located in a
fairly deep path, the Design Manager can hit this 63 character limit
when it attempts to create additional subdirectories in the design directory.
This causes the Design Manager to fail to create the version and revision
for a project.

Solution 1:

If the problem is due to the first cause, check the write permissions for
the Work Directory and verify that the drive is not full.

If the problem is due to the second cause, move the design directory closer
to the root directory so that the Design Manager does not hit the 63
character limit as it attempts to create subdirectories.

The Design Manager will attempt to create 3 additional levels of
subdirectories (\XPROJECT\VERSIONx\REVISIONx).	Allowing 9 characters
(8 for name + 1 backslash) per directory, the Design Manager could
potentially add 27 characters to a directory path. As a worst case, the
design directory path should not exceed 36 characters.
