XC3000/XC4000/XC5200: xde in vesa16 mode requires 800x600x16 color
support



Problem Description:
XDE requires that the video card support 800x600 resolution
and 16 colors to run in vesa16 mode. Two video cards have
been seen have problems with this mode. The Number 9 Motion 771
and the GXE 64 PRO cards do not support this resolution and
XDE can not be run in this mode on these cards. The manufacturer
claims these two cards cannot be modified to support this mode.
The Number 9 Imagine 128  card does work correctly. Dell
computer currently ships Number 9 cards with all new computers.


Solution 1:

Use a lower VGA resolution or a different card.
