X2VPREP/XCDSPREP: Error: XNF v6.0 is not supported

Record #932

Product Family: Software

Product Line: Cadence

Problem Title:
X2VPREP/XCDSPREP: Error: XNF v6.0 is not supported

Problem Description:
XCDSPREP v9502-5.10, shipped with the 9502 Cadence release, does not support
XNF v6.0. The same holds true for X2VPREP prior to v9504-5.2 (prior to XACT
5.2.0 release).

Solution 1:

XCDSPREP in the Cadence 9502 release does not support XNF v6.0 because it
is built with an older version of the Xilinx generic netlist reader. This
executable will be updated in the 9504 Cadence release.

Until Cadence customers receive the 9504 release from Cadence, they can use
FUNCNETX and TIMENETX from the ES-Verilog archive on the XACT 5.2.1 CD
to generate Verilog netlists for functional and timing simulation (see
the related solution record #1115 for information on accessing this software).

Both scripts call X2VPREP 9504-5.2, which does support XNF v6.0, instead of
XCDSPREP.

Note:
FUNCNETX, TIMENETX and X2VPREP cannot be integrated into the Cadence FPGA
Designer graphical interface, so Cadence customers needing XNF v6.0
support (typically for XC4000E and XC5200 designs) will have to process
their designs in Unix command line mode.

Xilinx recommends that customers use the scripts FUNCNETX and TIMENETX
(part of ES-Verilog) since they call X2VPREP as part of a 1-step netlisting
process for functional (FUNCNETX) and timing (TIMENETX) simulation.
