Foundation: Imported schematic, pushing into macro - "Symbol is a primitive cell"

Record #937

Product Family: Software

Product Line: Aldec

Problem Title:
Foundation: Imported schematic, pushing into macro - "Symbol is a
primitive cell"

Problem Description:
The Foundation Schematic Capture tool may not import all of
the sheets of a Viewlogic design correctly. You wil notice
this when viewing the design because certain macros with
underlying schematics will actually be depicted as primitives
with no underlying schematic.

Assuming that you have not modified the default colors,
schematic macro symbols appear with a dark blue border, while
empty symbols have a dark red border.

Macros incorrectly imported will come up empty. If you
attempt to push down into them, you will see the message,
"Symbol is a primitive cell."

Solution 1:

The VLIMPORT.LOG file in the project directory verbosely
reports the status of the import. If the import is
incomplete due to memory shortage, it suggests modifying the
file c:\windows\bti.ini.

Under the [Btrieve Client] section is an "options" section of
the bti.ini, change the /U option so that it reads /U:512

This will enlarge the largest compressed record size and
allow a correct import of the schematic.
