Windows95 (Win 95)
Problem Description:
In windows95, PPR might give you the following error when trying to route a desi
gn:
PPR: Abnormal program termination: memory protection fault
Solution 1:
There are a couple of things to try in this situation. One solution that worked
for me is as follows:
Force Windows95 to allocate memory for command.com
In windows95, click on My Computer. Open Ms-dos_6. Find the command.com icon a
nd _right_ click on it. When the pop-up menu appears, click on properties. Nex
t click on the memory tab in the properties window. Set the Extended(XMS) memor
y setting to 1024. Also be sure that "uses HMA" is checked. All other selectio
ns should be set to "auto". Click on apply and OK. Then reboot Win95 and try r
unning ppr again.
Solution 2:
For maximum DOS Memory in an MS-DOS session, add the line:
LocalLoadHigh=1
to the [386Enh] section of the system.ini file.
