PROcapture: "Pin/Net disassociation at location ..."

Record #1264

Product Family: Software

Product Line: ViewLogic

Problem Title:
PROcapture: "Pin/Net disassociation at location ..."

Problem Description:
A user tries to bring up a schematic previously created in PROcapture,
and the resulting screen is blank except for the cryptic message:
"Pin/Net disassociation at location ....
Reconnect these nets to pins if appropriate."

PROcapture then freezes up, and will not allow you to continue.

This is known to happen when a user pushes into a previously created symbol
and deletes a pin. This is a bug in PROseries.

Solution 1:

To get back the previously saved schematic, you might try to open up the
schematic for the symbol in question, and delete the netnames that were
previously on the corresponding symbol. Then, after saving, try to re-open
the top-level schematic. This *sometimes* works, but not always.

You may also try to copy the backup files from the \sch\bac and \sym\bac
to the \sch and \sym directories, respectively, to at least get the
previously saved versions of the schematic.

When deleting pins from your symbol, always go to any schematic which
references the symbol and save that schematic sheet before you leave
PROcapture.

Solution 2:

A certain method of avoiding this bug is to upgrade to Workview Office.
