General Description:

Running TIMENET or the "Generate Physical" step in the
Cadence/Xilinx interface may give you an error similar
to:

  "XNF version 5 expected, reading version 6"



Solution 1:


The error is due to an incompatibility between the version of
the Cadence interface being used and the version of the
Xilinx Core tools.

If you are using XACT 5.2.1, the required version of the
Cadence release is 9504, which supports XNF version 6.0 and
4000E (9604, or 97A will also work, but starting with these
releases, you must obtain the Xilinx core tools from Xilinx).

If you are using the 9504 release only and also need 5200
Concept and Verilog support, you must also download an
additional set of patches from Cadence.  Consult (Xilinx Solution 1251) (Concept
 4000E and 5200 libraries) for
information on which archives are needed.

If only Verilog support is required, you may use the
ES-Verilog v5.2.1 archives, which is available on the XACTstep
Core Tools v5.2.1 CD-ROM for Sun and HP workstations.
