Workview Office: License exclusive restriction errors (1055, 8031, 8051)


Problem Description:
After installing Workview Office with a Xilinx-exclusive License.dat,
attempting to open ViewDraw may give this error:

vsec: Error 1055: Required license not found for product Viewdraw
+vsec: Error 8031: Flex/LM Error: Local checkout filter rejected request
	 (-73, 125).

+vsec: Error 8051: License exclusive restriction does not match exclusive
	     restriction specified in the powervie.ini file.


Solution 1:

Xilinx licenses for Workview Office are restricted to certain products.
To match the exclusive restriction in your license.dat, you will need to
add one line to the bottom of your C:\WVOFFICE\STANDARD\POWERVIE.INI file:

exclusive 38

This is the Xilinx-exclusive restriction code.	You will also note that
this matches a string at the bottom of the license.dat file that states:

VENDOR_STRING="Exclusive:38 ...



Solution 2:

Also be sure that the variable that points to the license file has been set
in your autoexec.bat (windows 3.1, 95) or System Setup (windows NT):

SET LM_LICENSE_FILE=C:\WVOFFICE\STANDARD\LICENSE.DAT

Note that this points to the file itself, not just the directory.

In About Workview Office->Tech Support, you will see that the License File
Search Order has been filled with the above path.  Clicking on the path
reveals the license.dat file in the window to the right.  The HOSTID at the
end of this file must match the Host ID above the License File Search Order.
