XC73144: How to configure programmable ground option

Product Line: 7300

Problem Title:
XC73144: How to configure programmable ground option

Problem Description:
The XC73144 features User Programmable Ground pins.

In order to make use of this and activate the UPG pins, use the
"Drive Unused I/O" option in the XEPLD Implementation software.

With the XC73144, this option drives the output driver to GND with a
programming bit. With the other 7300 devices which do not feature
UPG pins, this "Drive Unused I/O" option simply drives the output
driver to GND with the macrocell output.

The way to use this option differs slightly depending on whether
you are using XEPLD v5.x or XEPLD v6.x, or XABEL-CPLD.

Solution 1:

For 5.x: (PC v5.1 or earlier, and all workstation)

1>
Use the "-u" option with fiteqn or fitnet.

Solution 2:

For 6.x (PC only),

In the Design Manager:

2> Select Implement from the Design menu, which
brings up the xc7300 Design Implementation Dialog Window.

3> Edit the Implementation Template. From the 'Fitting' tab,
Select the "Drive Unused I/O Pads on Chip" option.

Solution 3:

For XABEL-CPLD:

In Fit Design Properties, select the "Drive Unused I/O Pads
on Chip" option.
