Workview Office gives "Error" but no error message.  (WVOinstall info)


Problem Description:
When starting any program in the Workview Office toolset beyond the Program
Manager (ViewDraw, ViewSim, ViewTrace, etc.) an error message box appears
with no message.  It has a white X in a red circle and the word "Error", and
that's it.


Solution 1:

One possible cause is due to the installation of the Viewlogic Interface
from the Xilinx XACTstep CD.  Make sure you do NOT install the STAND-ALONE
product, as this will install the PROseries tools, which will conflict with
the use of the newer Workview Office tools.

You only need/want the Viewlogic Std Package (DS-VL-STD-PC1) from either a
Quick or Custom install.

Also, the target directory of this install should be changed from
C:\PROSER to C:\WVOFFICE (or wherever the Workview Office tools are
installed).  This eliminates confusion with both the directory structure
and environment settings.



Solution 2:

Speaking of environment settings, here's what you should have with the
default settings (except for the Viewlogic interface, which has been
installed to the Workview Office area).

set XACT=C:\WVOFFICE;C:\XACT

set WDIR=C:\WVOFFICE\STANDARD

set LM_LICENSE_FILE=C:\WVOFFICE\STANDARD\LICENSE.DAT
