Foundation: Adding parts and speed grades to the selection menus


Problem Description:
Periodically, Xilinx may release new data files to support
additional packages or speed grades, in the form of the
*.PKG or *.SPD files.

These files will only update the XACT or M1 Design Manager, and
will not update the Foundation Project Manager.  Therefore,
the user will still not be able to select these parts from
the Foundation Project Manager menus.


Solution 1:

To add new parts and/or speed grades to the Foundation
Project Manager, edit the XILINX.FAM file (for XACTStep6),
or M1.FAM (for M1) found in the ACTIVE\EXE directory.

Add the new parts as shown below.

Example

To add 4025EPG299-3 and -4, add the following line below the
[XC4000E] header:

4025EPG299=3, 4

If you then wanted to add the -2 speed grade, modify it:

4025EPG299=2, 3, 4
