OrCAD Capture 7.0: How to access 9500 libraries for schematic capture?


Problem Description:
OrCAD Capture 7.0 does not have the XC9500 libraries. To use these libraries, th
e user MUST install OrCAD Interface and CPLD Fitter Core tools from the XACT-CPL
D(DS560) CD.

Assuming that Capture is installed in c:\orcadwin\capture directory and DS560 is
 in c:\xact9000 directory, the location of Xilinx libraries is as follows:

XC2000	       libraries  -> c:\orcadwin\capture\xc2000\
XC3000	       libraries  -> c:\orcadwin\capture\xc3000\
XC4000,XC4000E libraries  -> c:\orcadwin\capture\xc4000\
XC5200	       libraries  -> c:\orcadwin\capture\xc5200\
XC7000	       libraries  -> c:\orcadwin\capture\xc7000\
XC9000	       library	  -> c:\xact9000\xc9000\

NOTES:
1. All libraries EXCEPT that of XC9000 have .olb file extension.
2. XC9000 library has .lib file extension.



Solution 1:

To add 9500 library to a new design, do the following:
1. Create a new design by choosing the New button from the toolbar. Capture open
s a new design manager window and a new schematic page editor window.
2. From the schematic page editor's Place menu, choose Part (ALT, P, P) or choos
e the part selector tool on the schematic page editor's tool palette. Capture di
splays the Place Part
dialog box.
3. Choose the Add Library button. Capture displays a standard Open dialog box. S
elect the c:\xact9000\xc9000 subdirectory to locate xc9000.lib.
4. You will see one more dialog box, which will prompt you to save the Translate
d library. Enter the same path c:\orcadwin\capture\library\xc9000 to keep all th
e Xilinx libraries in the same location.
