XNFMERGE, CONCEPT 9402: ERROR: Cannot find PWR.XNF or GND.XNF / How to connect a pin to VCC

Record #2018

Product Family: Software

Product Line: Cadence

Problem Title:
XNFMERGE, CONCEPT 9402: ERROR: Cannot find PWR.XNF or GND.XNF / How to
connect a pin to VCC

Problem Description:
Keywords: xnfmerge, concept, concept2xnf, gxilinx

Urgency: standard

General Description:

XNFMERGE may issue an error about not being able to find an
XNF file for a PWR or GND symbol. This error is usually
associated with using a PWR or GND symbol from one of the architecture specific
primitive libraries (lca2k, lca3k, or lca4k) in the 9402 Cadence release.

Solution 1:

The workaround is to replace the PWR and GND
symbols as follows:

VCC: Connect the pin to a net labeled VDD.
GND: Connect the pin to a net labeled VSS.

NOTE: The 9402 Cadence pre-Unified libraries are obsolete,
and customers are encouraged to convert their designs to
the current release. Because the 9402 release libraries
are incompatible with all libraries released after 9402,
the only solution currently is to re-enter these designs.

An intermediate workaround is described in an application
note on "Using the Xilinx Interface 4.0 with XACT 5.x", but
the workarounds in this app note do not allow you to target
any new features available in the XC5200, XC4000E, XC4000EX,
XC7000, or XC9500 devices. This includes all new architectures that have been r
eleased since 1995.
