***Note this solution is not verified on-site, please give feedback on this solu
tion. It has only been seen on Windows NT 4.0 w/ Novell. Novell is not one of su
pporting network for M1.  Xilinx does not garantee the performance of the softwa
re under Novell network.

User installed M1 license file on Novell network drive under X:\FLEXLM.  LM_LICE
NSE_FILE was set to X:\FLEXLM\LICENSE.DAT but when invoking the M1 tools, it err
or-out with "can't find license file".

The location of the actual core tool can be either on a local drive or Novell ne
twork drive.


Solution 1:

LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable must be set to X:\\FLEXLM, note the double
backslash. To modify LM_LICENSE_FILE
Under Windows NT 4.0:
Select	MY COMPUTER -> right click -> properties -> environment
You should find LM_LICENSE_FILE under either SYSTEM or USER area, add in the sec
ond backslash.

Under Windows 95:
Double click on MY COMPUTER -> Open up C:
Find AUTOEXEC.BAT and right click -> select EDIT
Modify LM_LICENSE_FILE line and save it.
Re-boot.
