Timing Analyzer: "Macro /tmp/xil_922 failed" - what does this mean?

Record #2383

Product Family: Software

Product Line: FPGA Core

Problem Title:
Timing Analyzer: "Macro /tmp/xil_922 failed" - what does this mean?

Problem Description:
Keywords: timing analyzer macro failed
Urgency: Standard

General Description:
Whenever a macro fails to execute, a dialog appears with a
message similar to the following:

<OUTPUT>Macro /tmp/xil_922 failed</OUTPUT>

On PCs, the message will read

<OUTPUT>Macro C:\TEMP\xil_922 failed</OUTPUT>

Solution 1:

Before executing a macro, the Timing Analyzer copies the
file into your temporary directory (/tmp for workstations,
C:\TEMP for most PCs).	If an error occurs during execution,
this is the filename that is reported.

Do not edit the file in the temporary directory. Make any
necessary changes to the original copy of your macro file
and re-execute.
