M1.3.7 EPIC - Converting an M1.2.11 hard macro (.nmc file) to M1.3.7 using EPIC.

Record #2545

Product Family: Software

Product Line: Merged Core

Problem Title:
M1.3.7 EPIC - Converting an M1.2.11 hard macro (.nmc file) to M1.3.7
using EPIC.

Problem Description:
Hard macros (.nmc files) created in version M1.2.11 are not
compatible with version M1.3.7, but can be converted for
use with M1.3.7.

Solution 1:

The hard macro conversion process involves recording an EPIC
script in M1.2.11 that contains a complete description of the
hard macro. The script can then be played back in M1.3.7 to
re-create the macro.

Recording the EPIC script:

  - Load the original hard macro into EPIC under version
    M1.2.11, using the command "epic -m macro_name.nmc"

  - Type "a" to bring up the EPIC command line window.

  - Run the command, "record -c new_macro_name.scr"

Re-creating the macro in M1.3.7 using the .scr file.

  - Start EPIC using the command "epic". Choose "Create
New Macro" from the EPIC Start window.

  - The Macro File name and the Architecture, Device, Package
and Speed selections must be specified, but will ultimately
be overridden by the data in the EPIC script.

  - When EPIC has completed loading, pull down the "Scripts"
    menu and select "Playback...".

  - Enter the path to the EPIC script or browse for it.
All other options can be left at the default values.
Select "OK" to run the script.

  - When the script has completed running, write out the
new macro by pulling down the "File" menu and selecting
    "Save".
