Record #2642

Product Family:  Software

Product Line:  Merged Core

Problem Title:
M1.2/M1.3 Design Manager: Where is preference and project information
stored?

Problem Description:
Keywords: Design Manager, dsgnmgr, m1.2, m1.3, projects, preferences

Urgency: Standard

Problem Description:
After installing M1.3, the Design Manager did not recall the
preferences and projects created under the M1.2 Project
Manager. Where is this information stored and why isn't
it recalled?

Solution 1:

Windows 95 and Windows NT:

Windows 95 and Windows NT store preference information in windows registries.
You can run c:\windows\regedit to view and modify the registry information.
WARNING: Xilinx is not responsible for any modifications a user decides to make

to Windows registry. Modifications to registry can cause fatal errors in the
system.

Once the 'regedit' window is up, you can view and modify the Xilinx Design
Manager project list information at:

HKEY_USERS
->.Default
  ->software
    ->Xilinx
      ->Design Manager
	->Project List

Additional registry information can be found on
Alliance Series vM1.x Install and Release Document, Appendix A

UNIX Workstations:

M1.2 Design Manager stores system information in <home directory>/.WindU (which
is an
ASCII file.

M1.3 Design Manager stores system information in <home directory/.windu/winu_reg
.ini.
It is a binary file and can not be editted.

One way to bring all the preferences from M1.2 Design Manager to M1.3 Design Man
ager
is to set them in the Design Manager.
