Design Manager M1: Segmentation Fault / Bus Error (core dump) when invoked

Record #2855

Product Family: Software

Product Line: FPGA Core

Problem Title:
Design Manager M1: Segmentation Fault / Bus Error (core dump) when
invoked

Problem Description:
Keywords: Design Manager, M1, dsgnmgr, segmentation fault, core dump, bus error

Urgency: Hot

Problem Description:

After entering 'dsgnmgr' to invoke Design Manager from a UNIX
shell, a segmentation fault occurs and no additional messages
are given.

(Any message reported is specific to a user and/or a machine)

Solution 1:

This may result from a machine that was powered-down or re-booted while Design
Manager was processing a design. This causes a disconnect in the registry that
is emulated by the Windu software, which now prevents new instances of the
Design Manager from starting.

The user with the failure should logon to their account and delete the .windu
and .Windu directories from their home directory.

For example, on a Sun machine:

rm -r /home/michael/.windu
rm -r /home/michael/.Windu

Also, list all of the processes running on the machine and kill any with
the windu string in them.
