Product Family: Software
Product Line: Aldec
Problem Title:
Foundation F1.3 Project Manager, WinNT: "Library access error" and
"lmacs: ...unable to access transaction control file" in WINNT
Problem Description:
Keywords: Windows NT, NTFS, lmacs, library access
Urgency: Standard
General Description:
Customers using Foundation F1.3 under Windows NT on an NTFS
partition may get the following response when executing the
Foundation Project Manager.
The mouse will lockup for a few seconds and a dialog box
will pop up with "library access error." Then, after selecting
the "ok" button, the Project Manager message window comes up with
an error message:
lmacs: ...unable to access transaction control file.
Solution 1:
This can happen when the Windows NT "Windows" directory permissions have been se
t to read-only for non-administrator
users. In this case Foundation is unable to write the hidden file
"mkde.trn" to the Windows directory. The best solution is to
change the trnfile setting in the BTI.INI file as described below.
Change the line "trnfile = C:\WINDOWS" to point to a directory
that the other users can have read/write access to. A good
example would be "trnfile = C:\TEMP". This way Foundation can write to this fil
e.
Other users will also need to have read/write access to the
SUSIE.INI and ALDEC.LOG files.
