M1.4 Security: How can I get the license manager to run as a service
onNT?
Problem Description:
Keywords: lmgrd, xilinxd, security, license manager, NT
Urgency: Standard
General Description: This solution covers the details of how
to run the license manager as a service on Windows NT. The
license manager will also run as a service as long as the
computer is turned on, no user needs to be logged in.
Solution 1:
After installing M1.4, there should be a FlexLM License
Manager in the Control Panels. Open this.
On the 'Setup' tab, enter the correct path information for
lmgrd.exe and your license file. The lmgrd.exe should be
located in $XILINX/bin/nt and the license file can be obtained
from customer service (1-800-624-4782).
There are two checkboxes at the bottom of this screen.
'Start Server at Power Up' - this option allows the license
manager to run as long as the machine is started in Win NT. No
user needs to be logged in. 'Use NT Services' - this option
will run the license manager in the background and keep it
invisible to the user.
Return to the 'Control' Tab and click on 'Start'. Your license
should now be available to be checked out.
