General Description:

Since Alliance 1.4 software began shipping 1 month earlier than
Foundation 1.4 will, is it possible to use the A1.4
implementation software with the F1.3 Design Entry software
until F1.4 starts shipping?


Solution 1:

If you wish to take advantage of the A1.4 implementation
software before F1.4 is available, you may do so, but will need
to also install the Foundation-specific personality modules
which are not installed from the A1.4 CD.  These personality
modules, or "pm's" are available either from the F1.3 Design
Implementation Tools CDROM, or from the File Download area of
the Xilinx Web site.

To copy them from the F1.3 CD, simply copy the FNDTN and
METAMOR (if using XVHDL) directories into the Implementation
Tools ($XILINX) directory on your PC.  Alternatively, these
pm's may be downloaded from:

(ftp://ftp.xilinx.com/pub/swhelp/foundation/fnd14pm.zip)

There is a readme.txt file contained within this ZIP file
explaining how to install them.
