Aldec, Inc., has been a pioneer in supplying Windows-based EDA tools for the last 12 years. ACTIVE-CAD is a mixed-mode design entry platform, that allows direct interoperability between its proprietary Schematic Capture, State Machine Editor, HDL editor (VHDL & ABEL), VHDL Synthesis and VHDL Simulator. Designed from the beginning for the Windows platform, ACTIVE-CAD operates under Windows 3.1, Windows '95 and Windows NT.

ACTIVE-CAD, the kernel to Xilinx Foundation, includes a Xilinx-specific Project Manager, Xilinx unified library components, XACT Time performance specification, support for XACT 5 and XACTstep, Xilinx Synthesis Templates, XABEL and XVHDL support, XNF and EDIF netlist generation as well as support for X-BLOX.

Aldec also provides support for system-level design entry and verification tools. The ACTIVE-Developer product offering provides system-level design entry with interfaces to PCB layout products and simulation of multiple designs. ACTIVE-Developer includes system-level verification tools to allow for the simulation of multiple CPLD and FPGA architectures from different vendors.
