Mr. Steel joined Xilinx in September 1987 and serves as the Company's senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer.  He oversees all aspects of the Company's financial operations including: financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax, investor relations, and facilities. 

Mr. Steel was instrumental in growing Xilinx from a small startup with revenues of less than $10 million to the leading supplier of programmable logic with FY97 revenues of $568 million. In addition to taking Xilinx public in June 1990, Steel has been instrumental in acquisitions, a stock split, and a convertible notes offering. Under Steel's management, Xilinx has been named the best financially managed company among fabless semiconductor companies by Instat, a market research firm, an unprecedented five times since its IPO in 1990. 

Mr. Steel holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Pomona College and an MBA from Stanford.
