Licensing
PC licensing for XACT 6.0.x Implementation Tools require that you attach
the Xilinx C key to your parallel port. If you have a C key from a previous
XACT release, you do not need to make any software modifications, simply
insert the key. If you received a new C key, then you can insert the
key and use the software for 50 runs. In order to enable your key for
an unlimitted number of runs, call Xilinx Customer Service (8:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time) to obtain authorization codes.

Once you have received your authorization codes from Xilinx, you can permanently
enable your key by double clicking on the Software Authorization Utility.
If you purchased the Xilinx version of PRO Series, you should not have
a Viewlogic key attached. The Xilinx C key licenses the XACTstep and PROSeries
software. The Xilinx C key is the only key that should be attached.

Environment Variables
In this example, the XACT 6.0.x Implementation Tools have been installed
in c:\xact. Please substitute the appropriate directory paths that
apply to your own system.
To run XACT 6.0.x software, the following environment variables
must be set in your c:\autoexec.bat file:
set XACT=c:\xact
set path=c:\xact;%path%
Online Documentation
You can access the online documentation using the
Adobe Acrobat Reader . Open the
reader to: c:\xact\online\online\linkpage.pdf This takes you to
the table of contents page, which has hyperlinks to all of the online
books. The online documentation can also be accessed from the CDROM.

Existing customers can interact with the Web
license tool and receive a license with immediate turnaround.
To generate a license through the Web, the following information is
required:

Environment Variables
In this example, the Xilinx M1 Implementation Tools have been installed
for Windows 95 in c:\xilinx. Substitute the appropriate
directory path that applies to your system. For Windows NT users, set the
environment variables by selecting START->Settings->Control Panel->Environment.
For Windows 95 users, set them in the autoexec.bat file.
