XC4000E and XC5200 SupportQ: How do I get hold of XC4000E and XC5200 libraries for Concept, Composer, and Verilog-XL?A: XACT-Cadence library support for XC4000E and XC5200 architectures is listed in the following table (These patches contain library support for XC2000, XC3000, XC4000 and XC7000 architectures as well:
Q: Who will develop and maintain the Xilinx libraries? A: Starting March 1, 1997, Xilinx took over full support of the libraries for Concept, Composer, and Verilog-XL. Q: Are the libraries free or purchased, and who distributes them? A: As of November 1, 1996, the Concept and Verilog-XL libraries are sold only by Xilinx as part of the Xilinx Cadence interface included with the M1 release. The libraries for the older Xilinx XACT release were distributed on the Cadence release CD with the interface (translation) software up until the 97A release. Contact Cadence for questions concerning the older release of the libraries. For the Xilinx M1 release, Xilinx is be the exclusive distributor of Concept and Verilog-XL libraries. Q: What if I only need the Verilog interface and library package? A: For the Xilinx XACT release, if the user only requires Verilog-XL simulation libraries, they may install ES-Verilog from the XACT 5.2.1 CD for Sun4 and HP workstations. The ES-Verilog package is supplied at no additional cost to users, and does not require a license. For the XACT ES-Verilog software, the Verilog translator is only available on workstation platforms. For the M1 release, NGD2VER, a generic, vendor-independent Verilog netlister, and a new vendor-independant library called SIMPRIMs are shipped as a standard part of the Xilinx Core Tool suite, replacing the ES-Verilog interface. The M1 netlister and library is availible on both PC (NT 4.0 and Win95) and Workstation (Sun4, Solaris and HP-UX). Q: How are libraries updated: between releases or in conjunction with them? A: Cadence libraries for the Xilinx XACT release
were shipped with each official Cadence release up to, and including, 97A.
Library Patch updates are also supplied by Cadence between releases as needed
on their ftp site, ftp://ftp.cadence.com.
Q: What about Synergy Support? A: Currently, the Synergy libraries and interface is only supported
by Cadence. Contact Cadence for information about using Synergy with Xilinx devices.
Q: What about Leapfrog Support? A: The Leapfrog VHDL simulator was not supported by the XACT
release. Although it is not tested with the M1 release, since Leapfrog is a
VITAL compilant simulator, it should work with the M1 software release.
