			Using their extensive design experience, Sapphire Computers Inc., offers their
			clients anything from a module in an FPGA design to a complete turnkey digital system.
			Sapphire specializes in using Xilinx FPGAs to reduce system cost, shorten time to
			market and allow flexibility in updates/modification. Because a system is not just
			hardware their in-house expertise provides complete software solutions along with
			an optimized hardware design.
			 Specialization
			Sapphire Computers Inc. are specialists in high-speed and high utilization FPGA
			designs, combining expertise in the latest microprocessor and digital systems with
			extensive software experience.  
			 
			Recent Projects
			 
				- Prototype Tower CPU card design for Gamma ray Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST).
				A Power PC 603e based VME card with a 256M byte Reed-Solomon data corrected main
				memory, 1 Meg L2 cache, Ethernet, ECC flash, power and clock control etc. The Reed-Solomon,
				L2 cache controller, DMA, interrupt controllers, Hamming ECC corrector are custom
				designed in three XLA Xilinx FPGAs.
			
  
			
				- Implemented the FPGAs for a hi-speed Viterbi Decoder based Demodulator System.
				This project depends on the reconfiguration of FPGAs to support multiple modulation
				schemes with minimal hardware cost.
 
				 
				
				 - Matlab/Win32 software-only Real-Time Audio Processor. Real-time audio transient
				detector implemented using The Mathworks’ Simulink/Real-Time Workshop. This included
				drivers for SoundBlaster audio and .wav file I/O and Simulink blocks for frame-based
				DSP processing.
 
				 
				
				 - Re-Engineered a Data Formatter for a fiber optic data link to a industrial inkjet
				printhead. This project required re-engineering board functionality without changing
				the physical board. Sapphire added 50% more logic to an existing FPGA design and
				doubled the system clock rate with no PC board or component changes. The resulting
				design utilized 100% of the FPGA CLBs and provided the customer with the all required
				throughput and functionality.

				- Test equipment for a 1 Gigabit fiber optic link within a raster image processor
				PCI based ICE unit.
				
 - Ethernet to RF modem interface, simulators for satellite communication equipment.
				
 - Test equipment for inkjet print controllers.
				
 - Reverse engineered and enhanced an existing FPGA design where source files were
				unavailable.
