Xilinx Reed-Solomon LogiCORE

The Xilinx Reed-Solomon cores are parameterizable LogiCOREs offering high performance at a low cost. They have been highly optimized to extract the most from the Xilinx FPGA architecture and give you a state of the art Reed-Solomon solution with no design work required.

Customization of the cores is made straightforward by the use of specially designed Java applets. Simply enter your required parameters in the core generation web page, click the submit button and you will receive your customized Reed-Solomon core via email within 24 hours. The package includes a customized netlist, a VHDL or Verilog behavioral model, an example, to show you how to instantiate the core, and documentation.

An Encoder and Decoder are available. They may be purchased separately if required. Please contact your Xilinx sales representative for details.

Features:
  • High speed, compact Reed-Solomon Decoder and Encoder
  • Implement many different Reed-Solomon coding standards
  • Fully synchronous designs, using a single clock
  • Support continuous data with no gap between code blocks
  • Symbol size from 3 to 12 bits
  • Code block length variable up to 4095
  • Supports shortened codes
  • Supports error and erasure decoding
  • Parameterizable number of errors corrected
  • Supports any primitive field polynomial for a given symbol size
  • Decoder counts number of errors corrected and flags failures
  • High performance and density due to use of Xilinx Relational Placed Macro (RPM) mapping and placement technology
  • Available for all Virtex, VirtexE, XC4000 and SpartanXL family members
