XILINX ANNOUNCES 12 NEW CORES FROM ALLIANCECORE PARTNERS
FOR VIRTEX AND SPARTAN SERIES FPGAS
Cores bridge processor, imaging and communications markets
SAN JOSE, Calif., December 6, 2000 —Xilinx,
Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) announced today the immediate availability of 12
new cores for XilinxÒ Virtex™ and Spartan™
series FPGAs that target a wide spectrum of applications, ranging from
modems and channel coding, to video and PowerPC-based designs. The cores
are available now from four Xilinx AllianceCORE™ partners, including CAST,
Inc., CSELT S.p.A, Deltatec S.p.A., and Eureka Technology, Inc.
"Our AllianceCORE portfolio of products is rapidly expanding, driven
by the broad acceptance of Xilinx FPGA architecture as the platform of
choice for implementing IP," said Mark Bowlby, manager of the AllianceCORE
program at Xilinx. "Our strong relationships with third-party IP providers
continue to yield cutting-edge solutions for our mutual customers."
The cores from Deltatec and Eureka Technology are the first in a series
of AllianceCORE products from these suppliers. Additional products will
be available in future quarters

Core Markets and Applications

CAST is providing two types of 8051 microcontrollers, plus 8254 programmable
interval timer/counter and a 8250 UART cores.

CSELT is providing an Interleaver/Deinterleaver core used in channel coding,
a Forward Inverse DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) core used in image processing,
an Internet Protocol CAM (Content Addressable Memory) core and network
data parser cores used in networking router applications.

Deltatec is providing a Longitudinal Time Code generator core used in industrial
and broadcast video applications.

Eureka Technology is providing both a PowerPC Bus Master and a Slave Controller
core for PowerPC peripheral applications and a SDRAM Controller.
