SAN JOSE, Calif., April 14, 2000—Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced that Dennis Segers and Richard Sevcik, both senior members of the company's executive management team, have been named to the Board of Directors. Their appointments bring the number of board members to nine.

"Rich and Dennis have been instrumental in helping to establish Xilinx as the leader of the programmable logic industry," said Wim Roelandts, president and CEO. "Their extensive knowledge of programmable logic hardware and software technology, combined with the breadth of business experience they bring, will greatly enhance the board's perspective as it explores new opportunities for Xilinx to continue its rapid growth."

Segers, 47, senior vice president of FPGA product development and general manager of the Advanced Products Group, is responsible for ensuring the delivery of leading edge FPGAs. Under his leadership, Xilinx bought to market the VirtexTM series of FPGAs, the fastest ramping line of programmable logic devices in the history of the industry. Before joining Xilinx in 1994, Segers served as vice president and general manager of the non-volatile products group at Benchmarq Microelectronics, a maker of mixed signal ICs. Prior to that, he held a variety of positions at Mostek Corp. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Sevcik, 52, senior vice president and general manager of the Intellectual Property, Software and Services Group, is responsible for all aspects of software tools and cores at Xilinx, including product development, marketing, and the company’s relationships with third-party software developers. He also oversees the Xilinx customer technical services organization and design services. In recent years, Sevcik led the effort to transform the company's software products that customers use to program Xilinx® FPGAs and CPLDs into the fastest, most powerful and easy to use set of tools in the industry. He joined Xilinx in 1997 from Hewlett-Packard, where he had served as vice president and group general manager of HP’s Systems Technology Group. Sevcik received his bachelor's degree in engineering physics from the University of Illinois and his master's in solid state physics from Northwestern University.
