XILINX TO OPEN FIRST CHINA OFFICE IN SHANGHAI SHANGHAI, September 25, 2000 —Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced the opening of its first office in China. With the opening of the new Shanghai office, Xilinx aims to broaden the market for its programmable logic device technology, enhance technical support for customers in China, and strengthen the localization of applications solutions. “We chose Shanghai to set up our first China office because most of our customers are located close to the Shanghai area. We hope to strengthen ties with these customers and help facilitate faster design and production processes,” said Roy Luk, China/Hong Kong sales manager for Xilinx. “We consider the solid infrastructure and advanced communication facilities in Shanghai to be the economic center of China. This will enable us to access the whole of China more efficiently.” “Xilinx currently has about 40 percent of the market for PLDs in China, and we expect this market to grow more than 50 percent in 2000,” said Craig Harris, area sales director for Xilinx Asia Pacific. “There is tremendous potential here.” “I would like to express my congratulations to Xilinx on the official opening of the Xilinx Shanghai Office, ” said Mr. Xu Xiaotian, division chief of the Department of Electronic Products, the Ministry of Information Industry. “The Chinese government has recently issued relevant regulations to encourage international software companies and semiconductor manufacturers to invest and conduct business in China.
