Product Change Notification PCN96002

April 2, 1996

Subject: Process Change Notification (PCN96002) - Qualification of Seiko Epson as a Manufacturing Facility for the XC7300 CPLD Product family.

Products Affected: All members of the XC7300 family.

Note:  Please see PDN97008A for the latest status.

Change Description: The XC7300 (currently manufactured on a 0.8µm UVCMOS process at tsmc) will be transition to a 0.6µm FLASH CMOS process currently being used at Seiko for the XC9500 family.

Reason For Change: The XC7300 products will become electrically erasable. Thus all of the XC7300 products will be 12V programmable and electrically erasable. However, the XC7300 family will not be in-system programmable.

Qualification Data: Process qualification data will be available 5/96, using the XC95108 as the qualification vehicle. Device qualification data and samples will be available according to the schedule below. Six month notification windows begin after completion of qualification and availability of samples.

Traceability: Products will be marked as XC7300F to delineate products manufactured with the 0.6µm FLASH process at Seiko. As an example:

XC7336-15PC44C is a tsmc product; the XC7336F-15PC44C will be the future Seiko product. The XC7300F will be 100% plug-in compatible to all existing sockets. All timing parameters will conform to existing datasheets. Bitmaps will also be 100% upward compatible, and no design recompilation will be necessary. However, new algorithms for the HW130 and all 3rd party programmers will be required. These algorithms will become available upon completion of device qualification.

Immediate response to this notification is not required. For any questions regarding this PCN you may contact Xilinx via email at "pcn@xilinx.com", or by FAX at (408) 559-1368.
