XILINX ANNOUNCES GLOBAL SERVICES ORGANIZATION

Company rolls out design, support and education services
to accelerate customer's time-to-market

SAN JOSE, Calif., December 11, 2000 —Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced the formation of Global Services, a dedicated organization chartered to provide customers with a comprehensive set of service offerings that include support, education, and design services plus an automated knowledge base on the web.

“Customer demand is clearly increasing for both design services and enhanced levels of technical support. This is particularly the case as Xilinx continues to grow rapidly and expand its reach into areas such as embedded processors, digital signal processing, bus interfaces and fast serial I/O technologies,” said Don Mullikin, vice president of Global Services at Xilinx. “With this new umbrella organization in place, we are better prepared to put knowledge in the hands of our customers and invest in new offerings that complement the many services we already provide. We want to provide choices for our customers that increase their efficiency and reduce their product development cycles.”

For example, Xilinx is unveiling its new Platinum Technical Service offering for customers who need accelerated technical product support. Subscribers to Platinum Technical Service receive access to engineers trained specifically for that customer's technical needs. Platinum subscribers also receive credits for courses offered through Xilinx Education Services.

Xilinx Education Services now offers customers a variety of options for in-depth training in the company’s programmable logic solutions. These offerings include classes such as PCI, advanced FPGA design and FPGAs for ASIC designers.  Also, Xilinx Education Services now offers a “Classroom in a Box” that is shipped complete with laptops and all course materials to an educational site of a customer’s choosing.  In addition, Xilinx hosts courses at its offices worldwide, or sends instructors to a customer’s site to reduce productivity losses due to travel. Customers also can choose to receive instruction from the Xilinx E-Learning system, which provides scheduled live classes over the Web as well as recorded, on-line courses that are available on demand 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Xilinx Design Services brings together the activities of system design, programmable logic design and embedded software development to help customers accelerate product development.  Xilinx expert designers can help customers with traditional FPGA designs as well as those planned for the next generation of Platform FPGAs.  Xilinx Design Services also provides expertise in the wide variety of IP cores available from Xilinx and its partners and for specific applications that range from telecommunications and data communications to digital TV. Xilinx currently offers these design services together with its network of independent, third-party design consultants who are members of the Xilinx XPERTS program. Together with the XPERTS partners, Xilinx wants to address a broad range of customer needs for outsourcing designs.

“With our recent acquisition of Integral Design, we have initiated our strategy to build an in-house team of expert designers,” Mullikin said.  “We expect that the Design Services organization will become even more important to our customer base over time, and we have aggressive plans in place to expand the staff in the coming months.”

The Web site support.xilinx.com is the Xilinx online community for designers.  The site provides a single, 24-hours-a-day location for designers to expand their knowledge about Xilinx products.  The site features an answers database with more than 4,000 unique design tips, techniques and application notes; interactive forums that allow designers to trade information with their peers; and problem solvers that automatically step customers through the debugging process.

Xilinx is the leading supplier of complete programmable logic solutions, including advanced integrated circuits, software design tools, predefined system functions delivered as cores, and unparalleled field engineering support. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in
